The Categorisation of Defects manual is produced to help operators understand DVSA’s inspection standards.
DVSA has released an updated manual covering the actions a DVSA examiner will take when roadworthiness defects are discovered and covers new guidance on how defects detected at annual test, or at a roadside encounter are dealt with.
The changes include new guidance covering:
- engine malfunction indicator lamp defects
- emission control system faults
- lighting defects and number plates
- indirect vision devices
- modified seatbelts
The new guidance also includes the introduction of tyre pressure measurement at the roadside for single fitment tyres
